This jacket is one of my favorite recent sale purchases from J. Crew. I love the gold buttons and the timeless black and white combination that allude to Chanel. The shape is boxy but when worn open and while in motion this slight imperfection is barely noticeable.

My mom became a fan too so I gave her the size 0 worn here and started stalking the 00 in the event that it pops back online. The clean lines and classic style make this jacket a worthy splurge at $169.99 (now an extra 30% off but small sizes are no longer available).
I found it a little harder to style than I originally imagined. Prints would look too busy paired with this jacket and bright colors seem out of place when worn together. If I find this jacket for myself I would probably only wear it with neutrals.
J. Crew calls this a “jacket” but I like to think it falls somewhere between a cardigan and a jacket. The material is warm enough for fall but thinner than what I’d expect from a wool jacket.
This jacket draws a lot of inspiration from Chanel and the Moschino Cheap and Chic boucle jacket that was heavily inspired by Chanel. Since I can’t bring myself to splurge on either right now, I am content with the J. Crew version.
Are you a fan? Or do you find this copycat overdone?
