The fashion blogosphere is the perfect breeding ground for clothing fever. A few years ago I would longingly look at sequin dresses usually available for the holiday season but submit to the reality that I am too plain of a dresser for them. However, after seeing sequins skirts styled so successfully on numerous bloggers, I decided to buy one to try the trend out for myself. I also decided to reinstate my Wear It Five Ways feature because I have been a little too shopping happy lately and not as critical of my purchases as I should be.
As always, please feel free to comment on other ways you would wear a similar item.
#1 -Preppy up top, sequin on the bottom : This is an easy way to dress down sequin skirts for a day look.

#2 – colorful blouse, statement jewelry, and some unassuming shoes : I went a little too far with the chunky AT body armor and the leopard pumps but primary colors and sequin mini’s go so well together. Sequins, while eye-catching, has the same effect in an outfit as a leopard print. I use it like how I would normally use a neutral item.

#3 – Chambray shirt + sequin mini : I love this look, it can be done both with and without tights. My AT chambray shirt is a little too big but with the right chambray shirt this could look amazing.

#4 – Cropped Blazer + White Top : This is something I would feel comfortable wearing on a date. The more formal top portion equalizes the fun-ness of the sequin mini.

#5 – Neutral blouse and shoes : This is perhaps my favorite way to wear a sequin mini. I think the neutral palette works very well with the gold and silver sequins. For darker colored sequin mini’s a navy blue blouse would look lovely.

#5 – Dressy Top + Sequin Mini : I think this idea needs more refinement. I am not really sure what is missing but I think it’s too similar to #2.

The sequin mini worn in this post is a size s. t is available in xs online. It seems to fit looser and looser with every wear for some reason but my biggest gripe is that the lining is shorter than the sequin outer (makes sense), so the tights often get caught on the sequins. I took the mini on a weekend trip recently and destroyed two pairs of tights in the process. It’s an expensive mistake if you have fine taste in tights.
