Battle of the Two Tone Skirts: Ann Taylor Color Block Pencil Skirt vs. Zara Two Tone Skirt

I have had a strange craving for a two-tone skirt (maybe an extension of my infatuation with two-tone shoes) and was able to finally scratch that itch with finding two skirts that fit the bill.

Ann Taylor Petite Color Block Pencil Skirt in 00P – $88 (on sale for $79.99; I bought it during the 40% off sale for $48 plus tax)

Measurements: 18.5in length, 13in waist

Pros: Length is perfect in petite

Cons: Loose fit, less body-hugging (which could be a pro in itself but just not what I am looking for)

Zara Two Tone Skirt in XS – $49.90 (no tax)

Measurements: 24in length, 12.5in waist

Pros: Better fit at the waist and hips; the cut is more in line with what I was looking for

Cons: Less-than-desirable craftsmanship; Most of the skirts in stores had noticeable zipper defects or some kind of hole. An inch too long on 5’2 me.

In case anyone else is interested, the shoes worn here are the Biella High-Heel Loafers from J. Crew, sold here. They run about half a size small (but may stretch after wear?)

I personally like the truer white contrast of the Zara skirt better but think the Ann Taylor one is more versatile.

I am leaning toward keeping the Zara one because I prefer the tighter fit and stretchy material. Which one do you like better?

Here are some other options to consider if you’ve also contemplated this skirt:

Left: Dries Van Noten Selize Two-Tone Wool Skirt
Right: BCBGMAXAZRIA Two-Tone Textured Power Skirt
