Shoe Lust : Pour La Victoire Women’s Irina Platform Pump

I am a big fan of tall pumps with a platform (bf calls them stripper heels and strongly disapproves of them) and have been coveting the YSL Tribute pumps for a while now. The only unsettling quality to those YSL beauties is the price tag. At $795 they were more than what I would allow myself to spend on a pair of “special occasion” heels.

In come the Pour La Victoire Women’s Irina Platform Pumps (also buy here, here, here, and here). At $250 a pop they are much more affordable and with the right discount (i.e. Endless’ F&F or marked down on Bluefly) almost cheap (price is relative) compared to the YSL Tribute Pumps.

I ordered them in size 7 after reading mixed reviews about the size. Some people say they run small, some say they run TTS, and still others say they run big. I decided that given the mixed reviews I should go with my normal size.

The size 7 in red suede did not fit me. I mean, I crammed my feet into the shoes but they were really tight. The 7.5 (pictured here) fit much better but I am now concerned about them possibly stretching out too much (as mentioned in many of the reviews about these shoes).

In any case, the shoes have become the most comfortable pair of shoes that I own. It’s like walking on pillows (especially after you account for the height). The unfortunate thing is that sizing is inconsistent so it does take a few tries to find the right fit. For example, I got the nude patent ones in a size 7 and they were a smidgen loose so I ordered a pair in 6.5 to try and those were much too small.

If you found the previous shoes I recommended to be a good fit I assure you you’ll love these too. I am in love (and fighting the temptation to order them in every color available).
